FORT WORTH, Texas -TCU beach volleyball coach Hector Gutierrez released the Horned Frogs' 2019 schedule Tuesday. The Frogs will compete against 14 teams that finished in the AVCA Top 20 last season, including 10 of the Top 15.
"This is the toughest and most challenging schedule we have had as a program. We are going to compete against very good teams all season," Gutierrez said.
The 2019 season is also TCU's first as a member of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA).
"We are really excited to be part of the CCSA. I believe the CCSA is one the strongest conferences in the country and has a very high level of competition across the board," Gutierrez said.
The home slate for the Horned Frogs will include three tournaments and the Purple and White scrimmage at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts.
Fans can get their first glimpse of the team at the Purple and White scrimmage on Feb. 16. After opening the season against Florida Atlantic at the Paradise in the Burrow from Feb. 22-23, the Frogs host the Horned Frogs Challenge from March 1-2, which will feature Georgia State, Tulane, Grand Canyon, and Missouri State.
TCU heads on the road for spring break and will compete in Los Angeles at the East Meets West Challenge, which features four of last year's NCAA tournament teams, against USC, Pepperdine, Hawaii and defending national champion UCLA on March 9.
On March 13, the team faces Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine in Malibu at the Waves' Invite, before heading to Corpus Christi, Texas on March 16 to play against Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Coastal Carolina at the Islanders Beach Volleyball Classic.
After the long road spell, the Frogs will host the Fight in the Fort from March 23-24 and will face Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Houston Baptist, Cal Poly, and Central Arkansas.
A road trip to the opposite coast sees the Frogs compete at the Surf and Turf Invitational from March 29-30 in Miami, Fla., against Florida Atlantic, Grand Canyon, Stetson, and Tulane.
After the trip to Florida, the Frogs will make a stop in Baton Rouge, La., to play in the LSU Beach Invitational against Texas A&M Kingsville, South Carolina and the host Tigers.
The final tournament of the regular season sees the Frogs at home in the TCU Invitational from April 12-13 with Texas A&M Corpus Christi, UAB and last year's national runner up Florida State in attendance.
Postseason will see the Frogs compete in their first CCSA Tournament in Emerson, Ga. from April 19-21. The beach volleyball season will end with the NCAA Championships that are scheduled for the first weekend in May in Gulf Shores, Ala.
