
Three-Peat! McCall Named Rookie of the Week

élan McCall earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors for the third straight week.
FORT WORTH, Texas – A third successful weekend for freshman élan McCall which saw TCU remain undefeated at home resulted in a third consecutive Big 12 Rookie of the Week honor for the Leander, Texas native as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
McCall continues to set numerous program firsts as she becomes the first TCU player to win three consecutive Rookie of the Week honors in program history and the first to win three of the newcomer award in one season. The freshman becomes the fifth Big 12 player to record three straight Rookie of the Week honors, the 10th player in the league to win three straight weekly awards and the second Horned Frog to accomplish the feat following Regan McGuire winning three straight to start the 2015 season.
The freshman was named MVP of the Fight in the Fort presented by Aloft Fort Worth Downtown after leading TCU to a 3-0 record over the weekend. McCall continued her streak of double-digit kill matches as she is up to 10 consecutive after totaling 56 kills over the weekend and 5.09 kills per set. McCall became the first Big 12 player to record 20+ kills and 20+ digs in a match after putting down 25 kills and picking up 22 digs against Louisiana.
McCall was the only freshman in the Big 12 to be ranked in the top 10 of three categories for the week in kills per set (2nd), points per set (2nd) and digs per set (3rd). McCall finished the weekend with two double-doubles and is now up to four double-doubles on the year which is tied for the lead in the Big 12. Overall for the season, McCall continues to lead the conference in kills per set (5.19) and points per set (5.78).
TCU will wrap-up preseason action by traveling to Conway, S.C., to take part in the CCU Classic where the Frogs will face host Coastal Carolina before taking on the College of Charleston on Sept. 14 and 15.
