Baker ran a personal-best in Chorzow
CHORZOW, POLAND – TCU track and field alum and former NCAA national champion Ronnie Baker continued his breakout season on Wednesday at the Memorial Kamila Skolimowska in Chorzow, Poland. After a few weeks off from competition, Baker ran a personal-best and world-leading 9.87.
In a race with no favors from the wind (-0.1), Baker defeated fellow American Mike Rodgers and Ramil Guliyev, the current World 200m champion. Baker's 9.87 mark gives him sole possession of the world 100m lead. Going into Wednesday's meet, Baker's 9.88 from the Diamond League Paris meet was tied for the world lead with Noah Lyles.
Wednesday's race establishes Baker as one of the favorites entering the Diamond League final, scheduled for August 31 in Brussels, Belgium. Baker currently sits atop the 100m standings with 31 points, followed by Christian Coleman with 21 points.
