CHICAGO -- TCU's Ty Summers has been named to the watch list for the Butkus Award, presented annually to the nation's top linebacker.
Summers, who will play this fall as a graduate student after already earning his TCU degree, is a two-time All-Big 12 selection. His 271 career tackles rank fifth in the 18-season tenure of head coach Gary Patterson. Summers enters the 2018 campaign needing 73 stops to pass current Los Angeles Ram Travin Howard (343, 2014-17) for the top spot.
Summers has also been named to watch lists this season for the Chuck Bednarik Award and Lott IMPACT Trophy.
