Newton, a senior from Bakersfield, Calif., showed out in the triple jump at the Big 12 Championships. He jumped 16.63m, setting a new national mark on the season. That mark shattered the school (16.32m) and conference meet (16.49m) records. Newton also finished third in the long jump with a distance of 7.93m.
Newton and the other track athletes that finished in the top 16 in their respective events will next compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships in College Station, Texas, from March 9-10. The rest of the team will next see action at the TCU Invitational held from March 16-17.
Hill, a sophomore from Ventura, Calif., and House, a senior from Rio Rancho, N.M., went 3-1 during the Horned Frog Challenge, besting ULM, Houston Baptist, and Texas A&M Kingsville. This record helped No. 13 TCU go 3-1 overall during the Challenge.
Hill, House, and the rest of the beach volleyball team will partake in the Fight in the Fort on Saturday and Sunday, where they will face No. 18 Tulane, No. 14 Cal Poly, and Arizona State.
