Ray, Reagor had great weeks of competition
FORT WORTH, Texas – Kianna Ray from women's basketball and Jalen Reagor from football have been named TCU's Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Ray, a junior from Austin, Texas, had a career-best weekend in San Diego as the Horned Frogs took on BYU and San Diego State in the SDSU Thanksgiving Basketball Classic. Ray was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading TCU with 38 total points in its two games, including a career-high 23 against SDSU. She has now led the team in scoring in each of the team's the last three games. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and 1.5 blocks per game in San Diego. On the season, she has now accounted for over half (51.4%) of the team's 35 three-point field goals made on the season with 18.
Up next, TCU will travel to Oxford, Miss., to take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. on the SEC Network.
Reagor, a sophomore from Waxahachie, Texas continued to build on his spectacular season as the Horned Frogs beat Oklahoma State last Saturday night to clinch bowl eligibility. Reagor amassed 233 all-purpose yards (121 rushing, 91 receiving, 21 kickoff returns) and two touchdowns. He has continued to be a reliable offensive threat down the stretch, recording a touchdown reception in seven consecutive games. In addition, he brought his receiving yards season total to 1,061 yards, making him the third player in school history to amass 1,000 receiving yards in a season. He now only trails Josh Doctson for the most in a single season in TCU history (1,327, 2015).
The football team is off this weekend and will find out which bowl game they will play in on Sunday.
