Banogu, Iqbal earn honors this week
Fort Worth, Texas – Ben Banogu from football and Sabrina Iqbal from women's golf have been named TCU's Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Bob's Steak and Chop House.
Banogu, a senior defensive end from McKinney, Texas, helped lead a stout TCU defense against a prolific Texas Tech offense on Saturday. He was second on the team with 8 tackles, including 2 sacks. TCU limited Texas Tech, the nation's leading offense with 591.4 yards per game, to only 353. The Red Raiders' explosive offense was also tied for seventh in scoring in the FBS at 48.4, but were held to only 17.
The Horned Frogs are back in action Saturday as they host #9 Oklahoma at Amon G. Carter Stadium with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
Iqbal, a freshman golfer from San Jose, California, helped the Frogs win the Mary S. Kauth Invitational by finishing first with a score of 1-under 143. She finished the final round with a 75, including a pair of birdies. This was Iqbal's second collegiate tournament. It was the Frogs' first tournament title since 2016.
The Frogs' next match is the Jim West Challenge held in San Marcos, Texas from Sunday, Oct. 27 to Monday, Oct. 29.
