FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Davey O'Brien Award has announced TCU's Kenny Hill as its National Quarterback of the Week.
Hill directed a TCU offense that was key in a 44-31 victory at No. 6 Oklahoma State. The Horned Frogs had 32 first downs, controlled the clock for 39:04 and were 11-of-19 on third-down conversions.
A senior from Southlake, Texas, Hill completed 22-of-33 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown while adding 15 yards rushing. The balanced attack saw the Horned Frogs total 238 yards on the ground.
Hill's 72.6 completion percentage on the year is on pace to shatter TCU's season record (66.5, Casey Pachall, 2011). He has thrown for nine touchdowns and is 19th in the nation in passing efficiency with a 162.2 rating. He has helped the Horned Frogs rank No. 1 in the nation this season in third-down conversions at 63.2 percent.
O'Brien won the Heisman Trophy for TCU during the Horned Frogs' 1938 national championship season. Former TCU signal caller and now Seattle Seahawk Trevone Boykin was a two-time finalist (2014, 2015) for the Davey O'Brien Award, presented annually to the nation's top quarterback.
