FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's golf team received an at-large bid Thursday and will make its 21st NCAA postseason appearance in the last 22 years.
The Horned Frogs begin play May 8 in the Lubbock Regional. TCU last played in Lubbock in September 2006, when it tied for second at the Jeannine McHaney Intercollegiate. The Horned Frogs also played in the 2005 NCAA Central Regional in Lubbock.
The top six teams at each of the four regional sites advance to the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship May 19-24 in Sugar Grove, Ill. TCU has reached the NCAA Championship in four of the last 10 seasons.
TCU is seeded 10th in the Lubbock Regional. Joining the Horned Frogs in the 18-team regional, by order of seeding, are UCLA, Arizona State, Furman, Kent State, Texas, Oklahoma, BYU, San Diego State, Texas Tech, UNLV, Oregon, Iowa State, Oregon State, Murray State, Georgetown, Richmond and Sacred Heart.
"We're really excited for our postseason bid and going to Lubbock," TCU women's golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "Being in our home state of Texas, able to drive in our team van and having the opportunity to spend some time with the girls on the way there, it's validation for the success they've had this year. They really earned this, and we're looking forward to a fun week in Lubbock."
The Horned Frogs have posted eight top-10 results, including five top-5 finishes, in 10 tournaments this season. TCU won the Greenville Regional Preview in October by 18 strokes.
Individually, TCU is led by Emmy Martin. The junior from Odessa, Fla., is on pace to set a TCU single-season record with her 72.8 stroke average. She has seven consecutive top-13 finishes and has shot par or better in 10 of her last 18 rounds. Her 13 rounds of par or better this season are one shy of a TCU mark. She has a team-best 75 birdies on the year. Martin had a career-best 67 in the final round of the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational, when she tied for sixth with a career low 6-under 210. Her best finish was a tie for second at the Greenville Regional Preview.
