Nov. 27, 2017 IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has selected TCU's Mat Boesen as its Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Friday's 45-22 win over Baylor.
A senior defensive end from Torrance, Calif., Boesen set TCU and Big 12 records with 5 1/2 sacks, just a 1/2 sack shy of the NCAA single-game mark. He also forced a fumble which led to a TCU touchdown while totaling a team-best and career-high 10 tackles. Additionally, he had a quarterback hurry.
Boesen's 11 1/2 sacks on the year are tied for third most in a season at TCU.
Boesen was named Sunday as the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week.
TCU will face Oklahoma Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Big 12 Championship Game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
