
Rifle Heads To Murray State

Oct. 21, 2017 FORT WORTH – The TCU women's rifle team returns to action Sunday when they head to Murray State for a triangular match also featuring Jacksonville State. TCU currently tops the nation in aggregate average at 4,724.
The Horned Frogs continue a trend that started last season with program-high scores in each of the first three matches this year. In addition to leading the nation in aggregate score, the Frogs also pace the field in smallbore average (2,344.33) and air rifle (2,379.67). As a team, the Frogs have fired three of the top four marks in the nation this year.
Mindy Miles has once again been the Frogs top shooter, posting the highest aggregate score in the country this season when she fired a 1,193 at Ole Miss. Freshman Liz Marsh has made her presence felt early on in her career, boasting the seventh-highest aggregate score this season (1,185).
Miles ranks tied for third nationally with a 586.67 smallbore average. Rachel Garner (585) and Marsh (584.67) rank sixth and seventh, respectively.
The Frogs also boast three of the top seven shooters in air rifle. Miles (597) is tied for second nationally, while Casey Lutz (595) and Garner (594.67).
Murray State has also had a strong start to the season. The Racers rank fifth nationally in aggregate average (4,683.25), air rifle average (2,360) and fourth nationally in smallbore average (2,323.25). Barbara Schlapfer is the top shooter for the Racers with an aggregate average of 1,178.67. She also paces the team in smallbore average (587.33). Bobby Broadstreet is the top air rifle shooter (593.67).
Jacksonville State sits 10th nationally in aggregate average at 4,643.5. It's average of 2,304.5 in smallbore ranks seventh, while its air rifle average of 2,339.25 sits 13th. David Sink leads Jacksonville State with an aggregate average of 1,164.5. He tops the Gamecocks in both air rifle (585) and smallbore (579.5) average.
