Mikals has been on fire since the start of the season, as this marks the second-straight week she has earned the weekly honor. The senior from Colleyville, Texas led the Horned Frogs past Duke with a school-record 36 digs. The previous record was held by Talaya Whitfield who totaled 35 digs against UT Pan American on Oct. 22, 2005.
Mikals also led TCU in kills with 16 to help TCU overcome a 2-0 deficit and defeat Duke 3-2 (21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 29-27, 15-13) in its first road match of the 2016 season. The volleyball team will resume play on Friday and Saturday, Sep. 9-10 as they head to Omaha, Neb. to take on Creighton and Chattanooga at the Bluejay Invitational.
Williams, a transfer from Tallahassee, Fla., made a spectacular touchdown catch against South Dakota State last week. Kenny Hill's pass was directed toward Desmon White, but the ball was deflected and saved by Williams for a 46-yard score to put the Frogs up 52-41.
In his first game in Purple and White, Williams had 11 catches for 158 yards, giving him the Big 12 lead in both categories through the first week of the season. Williams also ranks third in the conference for all purpose yards.
The TCU football team will return to action at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 10 as they host the Arkansas Razorbacks, facing off for the first time since 1991.
