BeachVB Concludes Season

FORT WORTH, Texas - Due to inclement weather in the Baton Rouge, La., area, the final day of Battle on the Bayou has been cancelled with that concluding the 2016 season for the TCU beach volleyball team.
The Horned Frogs finished their second season as a program with an 18-7 overall record including an upset of No. 10 LSU in the final match of the season yesterday. The team also hosted its first matches in program history with two tournaments at the newly renovated TCU Beach Volleyball courts located next to the University Recreation Center.
Ariah Palter and Molly Scheel were the only team to reach the 20-win plateau this season with an overall mark of 20-4. The pair won their last six consecutive matches and went 9-1 in the final 10 matches of the season. The No. 3 pair of Jillian Bergeson and Jaelyn Greene went 19-5 overall this season and were 5-0 to start the season.
The inaugural NCAA Championships for beach volleyball will take place from May 6-8 on the Gulf Shores Public Beach in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Beach volleyball is the fastest-growing NCAA sport with 47 sponsoring schools. The addition of the beach volleyball championship will be the 45th NCAA championship administered for women. The championship will have an eight-team bracket that will be played in a double-elimination format with teams consisting of five pairs of female student-athletes.
