Skoug Earns Big 12 Weekly Honor

FORT WORTH – TCU sophomore Evan Skoug was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for his performance in four games last week. The honor is the first of Skoug's career and the fourth for TCU this season.
Skoug led the Big 12 on the week with a .600 average in four games, including hitting a .571 (4-for-7) in the series sweep over Oklahoma. Between Tuesday's game and Friday's game, Skoug reached base in eight straight plate appearances en route to posting a .688 on-base percentage.
Against Dallas Baptist on Tuesday, the sophomore went 2-for-3 with a walk. In Friday's opener against Oklahoma, Skoug was 4-for-4 with a walk, reaching base all five times he came to the plate. He drove in a career-high five runs with the help of a double and a home run. In game two against Oklahoma, Skoug drew a walk and scored a run. He notched his sixth RBI of the weekend with a first-inning sacrifice fly. In game three, he drew two walks and scored TCU's second run of the game in the eighth inning.
Luken Baker has twice been honored by the league, earning Newcomer of the Week accolades on Feb. 22 and March 7. Dalton Horton was the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honoree on April 11.
