TCU Announces Scholar-Athletes of the Month

Martin, a native of Odessa, Fla., started October by recording the second-best score of her career at the Jim West Challenge. Martin logged five birdies en route to a final score of 215, tying for 20th overall individually. Martin then went on to lead the Horned Frogs as the TCU women's golf team cruised to an 18-stroke victory at the Greenville Regional Preview. The junior finished tied for second individually, the best finish of her career, with a 5-over-par 221. Most recently, Martin continued her hot streak with a career-low score of 67 on the final day of the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational. She totaled six birdies, and finished with a final score of 210.
Martin garnered First-Team Academic All-Big 12 last season.
Nunez, a Houston, Texas native, is averaging 41.0 yards per punt in his first year as a starter for the Frogs. Against Kansas, he pinned two balls inside the 20-yard line, including a long of 56 yards. Nunez also logged two punts inside the 20 in both games against West Virginia and Texas Tech. Although he has been successful as a punter this season, Nunez showcased some trickery against the Red Raiders as the redshirt freshman executed a fake punt on 4th-and-four in the third quarter. He surpassed the first down marker and was finally brought down after picking up a total of 18 yards.
Nunez is also currently a candidate for the Ray Guy Award, presented annually to the nation's top punter.
