FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's swimming and diving team will open Big 12 competition on Thursday, Oct. 27 as they head to Lawrence, Kan., to take on the Kansas Jayhawks in a 2 p.m. (CT) dual meet at the Robinson Natatorium.
The Series
The women's squad holds a 1-4 record against Kansas in a series that dates back to 1988. The Horned Frogs hold the highest score in the matchup's history with a 176-124 victory in 2013.
Strong Start
TCU (1-0) is returning to the pool after opening the season with a 121-76 win over Texas-Permian Basin last month. There, the Frogs showed strength in their roster as four freshman earned top times.
Nicqueline Rettberg took home first in the 100 and 200-yard freestyles with times of 54.71 and 1:56.80, respectively, while Hannah Burt led the pool in the 200 IM (2:12.22) and the 500 free (5:13.42). Claire Munster logged a first-place time of 24.80 in the women's 50 free, and freshman Elise Forzley took care of business in the 100 fly, finishing with a first-place time of 59.68.
Scouting the Jayhawks
Kansas has opened the season 2-0 after victories over Missouri State and North Dakota last week in a double dual. The Jayhawks won 12 of 19 events during the meet, highlighted by Madison Straight's first-place performances in the 200 IM and 400 IM.
