
No. 7 TCU Heads to No. 5 Fresno State Friday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 7 ranked TCU equestrian program will travel to California this Friday to take on No. 5 Fresno State at the Student Horse Center. Competition is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. PT in Fresno and will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
"We are excited about our first road match against the always fierce Fresno State," said TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield. "Our team is hungry for a win and has been training hard in preparation for this trip."

The All-Time Series
Fresno State currently leads the all-time series at 8-6, but TCU has won two out of the last three meetings, including a 14-6 victory last February.
TCU Continues Life In The Polls
After opening the season ranked No. 3 in the NCEA national team rankings, the Horned Frogs moved down to No. 7 in the latest NCEA rankings. The No. 3 ranking was the highest preseason ranking in school history and topped all Big 12 Conference schools in the preseason poll. The Horned Frogs closed last spring ranked No. 2 in the NCEA.
Cook and Lombard Making Mark
Freshmen Jamie Cook and Carly Lombard have opened their young careers with a bang, as Cook is 2-0 in Horsemanship, while Lombard sits at 2-0 in Reining. Both have also garnered MOP accolades during the early portion of the schedule. Against SMU, a total of six newcomers saw their first NCEA action.
An MOP Statement
On the season, TCU has garnered a total of seven MOP accolades. Earning MOP honors against SMU were Brooke Boyle, Rylee Morgan and Carley Barnett. The trio all posted their second MOP honors of their career in their respective disciplines.
Scouting TCU
TCU comes into this Friday's meet with a 1-1 overall record having lost to SMU in its last outing, 9-8. Against the Mustangs, the Horned Frogs claimed three MOP honors. Earning MOP rides were Brooke Boyle, Rylee Morgan and Carley Barnett.
On the season, the Western program has been led by Boyle, Marah Huston, Carley Montemuro and Rylee Morgan. Boyle and Montemuro are 1-0 on the season in Reining, while Huston and Morgan will take a 1-0 record in Horsemanship into this Friday's meet at Fresno State. Not to be outdone, newcomers Jamie Cook and Carly Lombard both sport a perfect 2-0 record in Horsemanship and Reining, respective, while also garnering MOP accolades.
On the Hunt Seat side, returning All-American honoree Molly Peddicord will take a 1-0 record into Fresno State in Equitation on the Flat, while Barnett has posted an MOP ride and 1-0 mark in the discipline. Other notable undefeated riders include Julia Finn in Equitation over Fences, Mady Fithian on the Flat, Courtney May in Equitation over Fences, Kayla McCarthy on the Flat and Melanie Selleck in Equitation on the Flat.
Scouting Fresno State
Fresno State comes into this Friday's meet ranked No. 5 in the national polls after opening the season with a 4-1 overall record. The Bulldogs have won two-straight over the likes of defending National Champion Auburn and Delaware State. Fresno's only loss was a 9-5 setback to Baylor in Waco to open the month of October.
The Bulldogs have been led by Taylor Brown and Kylina Chalack during the early portion of their schedule. Both recently earned NCEA Rider of the Month accolades after going undefeated for the month of September. Brown went 3-0 during the month in Reining, while Chalack rode to a 2-0-1 mark in Equitation on the Flat.
