ABOUT THE GAME
*Defending Big 12 champion and No. 2 TCU makes its 2015 home debut when it hosts Stephen F. Austin on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
*The Horned Frogs and Lumberjacks are meeting for just the second time on the gridiron. The only previous contest was a 67-7 TCU victory in 2008.
*Dating back to last season, TCU's 9-game winning streak ranks third nationally (Ohio State 14, Boise State 10).
*The Horned Frogs have won their last 13 home openers for the nation's fifth-longest active streak.
*TCU is looking to open with a 2-0 record for the ninth time in the last 13 seasons.
*At No. 2, TCU has its highest ranking in school history since closing the 2010 campaign at No. 2 after its 21-19 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin.
HOME OPENERS
*TCU has won 13 straight home openers under head coach Gary Patterson. In 10 of those victories, the Horned Frogs allowed 17 points or less.
*TCU is 13-1 overall in home openers under Patterson.
HOME SWEET HOME
*TCU is 68-14 at Amon G. Carter Stadium under head coach Gary Patterson.
*The Horned Frogs are playing their fourth season in Amon G. Carter Stadium after its $164 million donor-funded rebuild.
*TCU sold out of football season tickets for the third time in the last four seasons. This year's record-breaking total is 34,094.
*The Horned Frogs already have three sellouts this season: SMU (Sept. 19), Texas (Oct. 3) and Baylor (Nov. 27).
FACING THE ALMA MATER
*TCU running backs coach Curtis Luper is a two-time graduate of Stephen F. Austin, earning his bachelor's degree in 1996 and his master's degree in 1998.
*Luper received All-Southland Conference honors for the Lumberjacks in 1993, when he ran for 1,054 yards and nine touchdowns.
*Luper began his playing career at Oklahoma State (1987-92), before serving as an air traffic controller with the United States Army from 1988-92.
RECAPPING MINNESOTA
*TCU had seven defensive starters make their first career starts as Horned Frogs. Included in that total was Mike Freeze, who became the first true freshman linebacker to start in the 15-season tenure of head coach Gary Patterson.
*The Horned Frogs improved to 95-3 under Patterson when allowing 17 points or less.
*TCU had 203 yards rushing and is now 72-4 under Patterson when running for at least 200 yards.
*Trevone Boykin accounted for 338 (92 rushing, 246 passing) of TCU's 449 yards of offense.
TCU NOTABLES
*TCU is 31-3 when taking the field as a top-10 team under Gary Patterson, including a 20-1 mark when in the top 5.
*The Horned Frogs are the preseason pick to win the Big 12. The last two times TCU was predicted to win a conference was in 2009 and 2010. In both years, TCU completed an undefeated regular season in reaching the Fiesta Bowl and Rose Bowl, respectively.
*TCU has the nation's longest-current streak for consecutive games with a takeaway (26).
*Trevone Boykin has the nation's longest active streak with a touchdown pass in 16 straight games.
*With 246 yards passing at Minnesota, Boykin moved past Max Knake (7,370, 1992-95) into second place on TCU's career list. His 7,399 yards trail only Andy Dalton (10,314, 2007-10).
*Josh Doctson's 16 touchdown catches at TCU, in just 26 games, is tied for fourth in TCU history. His next TD grab will move him into a tie for second. The school record is held by Josh Boyce (22, 2010-12).
*TCU entered this season as the only school in the nation without a linebacker who had started a collegiate game.
*Place-kicker Jaden Oberkrom is the nation's active leader with 61 career field goals. He needs four field goals to tie Nick Browne (65, 2001-03) for TCU's all-time record. Oberkrom's 69.7 percentage (23-of-33) on attempts of at least 40 yards ranks third in Big 12 history.
