RENO, Nevada – Former TCU men's golf standout J.J. Henry won the Barracuda Championship for the second time in four years on Sunday at Montreux Golf and Country Club.
Henry edged out Kyle Reifers thanks to a 15-foot eagle putt on the second hole of a playoff.
The Barracuda Championship is the PGA Tour's only modified Stableford event, where players received eight points for double eagle, five for eagle, two for birdie, zero for par, minus-one for bogey and minus-three for double bogey or worse. Henry finished with 47 points.
It was the second time in his career he had won the tournament, the first coming in 2012. His other PGA Tour title came in his home state of Connecticut in 2006.
The win moved Henry up from 150th to 76th in the FedEx Cup standings, earning him a spot in the PGA Championship next week at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
Henry graduated from TCU in 1998 with a degree in marketing. He was a three-time All-American and was named the Co-National player of the year in 1998.
Fellow Horned Frog Tom Hoge also finished tied for 10th at the tournament.
