TCU Closes Out Home Schedule

FORT WORTH -The TCU baseball will close out the home portion of its regular season schedule Tuesday night when they host Abilene Christian. A special presentation honoring the eight seniors will start at 5:50 p.m.
TCU NOTABLES
Since dropping a 2-1 series at Kansas State, the Horned Frogs have swept their last four series.
With the two-game sweep of Kansas, TCU has now won eight straight Big 12 games.
TCU took two game lead atop the Big 12 standings and needs just one victory at Oklahoma this weekend to claim the Big 12 regular season championship.
The Frogs played their fourth extra-inning game of the season on Saturday and walked off with a 2-1 victory in the 10th inning to improve to 2-2 in bonus baseball.
TCU allowed just one earned run over the weekend and lowered its ERA to 2.14, reclaiming the top spot in the nation.
The Horned Frogs still pace the league in hitting (.290) and defense (.978).
Preston Morrison made his final regular season home start on Friday and tallied his 36th career victory. His 11 wins this season are tied for tops in the country.
Connor Wanhanen (.373) and Cody Jones (.359) rank first and third, respectively, in the Big 12 in hitting.
ABILENE CHRISTIAN NOTABLES
Abilene Christian is coming off being swept against Northwestern State over the weekend.
The sweep came on the heels of a three-game sweep at New Orleans. The Wildcats are 4-2 in their last six road games.
Abilene Christian has more wins (8) on the road than they have at home (8).
Tyler Eager is the Wildcats leading offensive threat with a team-best .293 average, 29 RBIs and nine stolen bases.
Russell Crippen is the power threat in the lineup with five doubles, two triples and three home runs.
On the mound, the staff has a team ERA of 4.67 and is allowing opponents to hit .283.
Ladgie Zotyka and Nick Palacios are the go-to guys in the bullpen with 22 appearances each.
Kevin Sheets has three saves and a team-low 2.08 ERA in 18 appearances.
Defensively, the Wildcats have a .961 fielding percentage. They have yielded 69 stolen bases in 83 attempts.
SERIES NOTABLES
TCU and Abilene Christian will be meeting on the diamond for the 19th time on Tuesday night.
The contest marks the second game against the Wildcats this season.
TCU is a perfect 18-0 against Abilene Christian.
This season marks the first time the teams have met since the 1995 campaign.
The Horned Frogs picked up a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Abilene Christian in Abilene on April 6.

Trey Teakell has been at TCU for five seasons, redshirting in 2011 before becoming an integral part of the pitching staff in 2012.
Preston Morrison, Keaton Jones, Derek Odell and Travis Evans made immediate impacts as freshmen in 2012, helping lead TCU to its first-ever road NCAA Regional championship and an NCAA Super Regional.
The quintet helped usher in the Big 12 era after spending their freshmen campaign as members of the Mountain West.
Cody Jones stepped onto campus for the 2013 season. He has started every game over the course of his three seasons.
Garrett Crain and Jeremie Fagnan transferred in as juniors in the fall of 2013 and played huge rolls in helping guide TCU to a berth in the 2014 College World Series.
Over the last four years, the seniors have seen TCU make history.
As freshmen, TCU won the 2012 Mountain West Conference regular season championship and the 2012 NCAA College Station Regional while appearing in the NCAA Los Angeles Super Regional.
In 2013, the group helped usher TCU into the Big 12 Conference where they qualified for the Big 12 Tournament.
