TCU Looks To Get Back On Track Tuesday

FORT WORTH - The TCU baseball team will look to get back on track on Tuesday as they wrap up a stretch of nine out of 10 games away from home at UT Arlington. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.

TCU NOTABLES
TCU has scuffled to start the month of April with a 5-3 record.
The Horned Frogs dropped a road series at Kansas State this past weekend.
TCU allowed 14 runs in Friday's loss, the most given up since May 24, 2012 against San Diego State.
Drew Gooch made his collegiate debut on Friday.
Preston Morrison returned to form on Saturday with his second complete-game shutout of the season.
Despite giving up 20 runs this past weekend, TCU still leads the league with a 2.37 ERA.
TCU was successful in 9-of-12 stolen base attempts over the weekend and leads the league with 68.
Cody Jones was 3-for-4 in stolen bases and now is tied for the league-lead with 15.
Connor Wanhanen raised his batting average to .381 after hitting .455 at Kansas State. The .381 average is tops in the Big 12.
The Frogs committed just one error over the weekend and are now fielding .981, a mark that is tops in the league.
UT ARLINGTON NOTABLES
UT Arlington is just 2-5 in the seven games since defeating TCU on March 31.
Most recently the Mavericks dropped a 2-1 series decision at Georgia Southern.
UT Arlington is 4-5 in midweek games this season.
Offensively, UTA is struggling to score runs as it averages just 4.4 per game.
Matt McLean is the leading hitter with a .336 average, while Travis Sibley is the leading run producer with 27 RBIs.
Levi Scott is the power threat with four home runs and nine doubles.
On the mound, the Mavericks have a team ERA of 4.31 and are allowing opponents to hit .301 on the year.
Colin Thornberg has picked up seven saves in 12 appearances this year.
Defensively, the Mavericks have committed 38 errors for a .971 fielding percentage.
SERIES NOTABLES
The Horned Frogs and the Mavericks will be meeting for the 150th time on Tuesday.
TCU holds an 92-57 edge in the all-time series.
Tuesday is the third and final meeting between the two teams this season. Two of the three games will have been played in Arlington.
Both teams have won a game this season, with the wins coming on their home field.
Since 2004, the Frogs are 21-6 against UTA.
TCU and UT Arlington have played every season since 1969.

On the mound, the Frogs have an uncharacteristic 4.50 ERA and opponents are hitting .275 against them.
Defense has been steady with just five errors and a .983 fielding percentage.
A RARE OCCURRENCE
On Friday night, the Horned Frogs were touched for 14 runs. TCU hadn't surrendered that many runs since giving up 15 to San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference Tournament on May 24, 2012. Over the last three seasons, TCU has allowed double-digit runs just five times.
HEATING UP
Since becoming a regular in the starting lineup 10 games again, Jeremie Fagnan has been on fire. He's hitting .387 (12-for-31) with a home run and five RBIs. Fagnan has tallied a hit in nine of the 10 games and raised his average from .244 up to .303.
ANOTHER FRESH FACE
Friday night saw another new face make his TCU debut. Drew Gooch took the mound in the seventh inning for the first time this season. This season, the Frogs have seen 12 newcomers take the field. Two of the newcomers have come on the mound, while the others have debuted in the field.
RUNNING WILD
TCU stole a season-high six bases in Saturday's win over Kansas State. The Frogs collected nine total stolen bases over the weekend to increase the league-leading total to 68 stolen bases.
Cody Jones racked up three to move into a tie for first place in the league. He is 15-of-17 on the year. Nolan Brown is the only other Frogs with double-digit steals at 10. Ten Horned Frogs have registered a stolen base this season.
