FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's track and field team climbed to No. 15 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings, it was announced today.
It's the third consecutive week the Horned Frogs have been slotted in the top 20.
TCU will be represented at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13-14 with five competitors in four events. The five include: juniors Ronnie Baker (60 meters & 4x400 relay) and Sam Watts (200 meters & 4x400 relay), sophomores Cameron Echols-Luper (long jump) and Raymond Bozmans (4x400 relay) and freshman Kevin McClanahan (4x400 relay).
Baker, a five-time All-America honoree, holds the sixth-best time in the 60 meters this season at 6.56 seconds, a personal-best. His mark was set in Albuquerque on Jan. 31 and is the second-fastest time in program history.
Watts, a three-time All-America award winner, ranks fifth in NCAA competition this season in the 200 meters. On Jan. 31, Watts posted a time of 20.69, which was the world's leading mark at that point in the season and ranks second in the TCU indoor record books.
Baker and Watts also qualified for the 4x400 relay with Bozmans and McClanahan. The quartet recorded their top time of the season on the same track that they'll compete on for the Championships, a mark of 3:06.05. It's the fifth-best time tallied this season in the event and ranks third in program history. It'll be the first indoor championships event for the All-American Bozmans and McClanahan.
Echols-Luper, the 2015 Big 12 long jump champion, rounds out the qualifiers for the Horned Frogs. The All-America honoree has the 12th best mark among those who advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships at 7.72m (25-4), set in Fayetteville.
