TCU's last matches with Nebraska have been historic. A 4,708-point performance in Columbus, Ohio, in a four-team field was the school record before being broken seven days later. The trip north will also mark TCU's first in Lincoln since Feb. 6, 2011, when the Horned Frogs won their 21st match in a row with a 4,688-4,585 decision.
The Horned Frogs shot a 2,367 in air rifle in their Saturday win over Ohio State, which tied for fifth-best in school history. The 2,327-point performance in smallbore equaled the 10th-highest.
Sally Li stood out in the last match in multiple ways, posting career-highs in smallbore (587) and aggregate (1,180) as well as firing a season-high 593 in air rifle.
Miles, whose 595-point showing in air rifle led all shooters, is tied with Li for the team average lead at 590. Hannah Black is right behind with a 589 average after shooting a 591. Miles and Black both also came within two points of their season-highs.
Nicholle Benedict, who was not included in the final tallies, was one point away from an air rifle personal-best.
The smallbore side has Li leading the team with a 582-point average, followed by Black (579) and Ariana Grabowski (578).
Nebraska will be competing for the first time in 13 days, when it defeated Akron 4,660-4,627. Rachel Martin fired a 596 in air rifle and Lauren Phillips posted a 582 in smallbore to pave the way. The Huskers had lost their previous three matches to heavyweights Kentucky, Alaska and West Virginia after a six-match winning streak.
The Midshipmen have won three of their last four matches, including back-to-back wins over University of the Sciences and a neutral site victory over N.C. State. Jodi Cull-Host (584) and Alex Berry (583) lead them on the year in air rifle. Dan Jonas and Berry pace the squad in smallbore with 577 and 571-point averages, respectively.
The Horned Frogs will have another road match at Air Force on Feb. 6 before the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo. from Feb. 7-8.
