TCU Places 46 on Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU placed 46 student-athletes on the 2013-2014 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, the league office announced Thursday.Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshman that have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. Additionally, the student-athlete must have participated in at least one of their team's scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
TCU placed fifth in the Big 12 with its 46 selections, including equestrian's Kari Hancock, women's golf's Alexandra Sborvo and soccer's Lauren Sajewich, who achieved 4.0 GPAs during the 2013-14 academic year.
The women's soccer and swimming and diving programs led the way for TCU with seven selections each, while volleyball placed six student-athletes on the all-rookie squad. TCU surpassed last year's total of 40 student-athletes that were recognized for their efforts.
