STILLWATER, Okla. -- TCU's Sanna Nuutinen shot a 67, the low score in the 126-player field, during second-round action Friday at the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional.
The 67 marked Nuutinen's fourth sub-70 round of the season and the seventh of her career, moving her into sole possession of second place on TCU's all-time list. She trails only former teammate Rachel Raastad's eight from 2008-12.
Nuutinen is tied for 28th individually. To reach the NCAA Championships, she'll need to be among the top-two finishers who aren't part of the eight teams advancing. She's currently four strokes behind that mark with a 4-over-par 148 through 36 holes.
Nuutinen's final-round tee time on Saturday is at 8:25 a.m. Live scoring is available at www.Golfstat.com.
A senior from Helsinki, Finland, Nuutinen totaled seven birdies on the day. She birdied two of her opening three holes before closing the front nine with back-to-back birdies.
After going 4 under through nine holes, Nuutinen birdied two of her opening three holes on the back nine. She was 6 under through 12 holes and in pursuit of her school-record 64 set earlier this season at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio.
