FORT WORTH - The TCU Rifle team will play its second-to-last match of the fall campaign when it travels to UTEP for a Sunday contest.
The Horned Frogs have collected 16 straight victories over the Miners dating back to the 2005 season.
Last weekend, TCU set season-highs in air rifle, smallbore and aggregate scores. The wins over Nevada-Reno and Jacksonville State came via a 2,364 air rifle score, which is the eighth-best mark in school history. The 2,326-point performance in smallbore marked the fifth consecutive match the team improved its score in that discipline.
TCU's air rifle contingent has been a mark of consistency. Hannah Black, Sally Li and Mindy Miles all share the team lead with a 590 average. Miles posted a 597 against Alaska on Oct. 19, tied for ninth-best score in school history. Kelly Bogart is right behind the trio with an average of 583 on the year.
Li holds the current top spot in smallbore, as her consecutive 584s (one point from a career-high) have led to her 582 season average. Black sits at 581, while Ariana Grabowski averages a score of 578.
Katie Bridges has also increased her smallbore score in every match of the year, culminating with back-to-back personal-best 579s her last two outings.
The Frogs topped UTEP both times the teams squared off in 2013-14. TCU won 4,635-4,516 on Nov. 17 in Fort Worth before taking a 4,648-4,579 win in El Paso in the regular-season finale. Bogart fired a then-career high 584 in air rifle for the first match. The second meeting saw Li post a 585 in smallbore and 1,178 in aggregate, both of which are still personal-bests.
UTEP comes into the match having lost 4,634-4,529 to Alaska on Oct. 18. Rachael Schoenrock is the team's top performer in both disciplines, posting a 583 air rifle average to go along with a 576 in smallbore. Jasmine Juarez is second at 579 and 558, respectively.
