ABOUT THE GAME
*No. 6 TCU leaves the state of Texas for just the second time this season when it travels to Kansas for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday.
*TCU's only other flight this season was to its Nov. 1 contest at West Virginia. Six of the Horned Frogs' opening nine games were at home in addition to short bus rides for road contests at SMU and Baylor.
*TCU's last trip to Lawrence marked its Big 12 debut with the Horned Frogs winning 20-6 in 2012.
*TCU head coach Gary Patterson is a native of Rozel, Kan., and a 1983 Kansas State graduate.
*TCU has a 26-3 record when taking the field as a top-10 team under Patterson.
*TCU has defeated four ranked opponents in its last six games, including two in the top 10.
*The Horned Frogs have opened with a record of 8-1 or better for the fourth time in the last seven seasons and seventh time in 14 years under Patterson.
*Patterson is 2-0 as a head coach versus Kansas.
SERIES NOTES
*TCU holds an 18-8-4 edge over Kansas in a series that dates back to a 41-6 Horned Frogs' win in Fort Worth in 1942.
*TCU is 8-6 versus KU in Lawrence, 8-2-2 against the Jayhawks in Fort Worth and 2-0-2 in the four games (1944-47) played in Kansas City.
*A 20-6 TCU victory at Kansas in 2012 marked the Horned Frogs' inaugural Big 12 game.
*Prior to TCU beginning Big 12 play in 2012, the schools had not met on the gridiron since a 17-10 KU victory in Lawrence in 1997, the year before Gary Patterson arrived at TCU as defensive coordinator.
ROAD WARRIORS
*TCU's 23-7 record (.767) in road games since 2009 is the fourth-best mark nationally.
*The Horned Frogs have won 18 of their last 24 conference road games.
*TCU is 6-6 on the road in Big 12 games.
FAMILIAR FACES
*TCU linebackers coach DeMontie Cross served in the same capacity at Kansas in 2012.
*KU defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt was a four-year letterman (1986-89) for the Horned Frogs.
TIES TO THE SUNFLOWER STATE
*TCU football coach Gary Patterson was born in Larned, Kan., and is a native of Rozel, Kan.
*Patterson went to Pawnee Heights High School and then Dodge City Community College, before heading to Kansas State.
*Offensive guard Brady Foltz (Rose Hill), who has started all nine games this season, is TCU's lone player from Kansas.
TCU NOTABLES
*Under new co-coordinators Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie, TCU has the nation's most improved offense in both total yards (+205.5 ypg) and scoring (+22.1 ppg) from last season. The 22.1 increase in scoring is on pace to set a Big 12 record and would be the largest improvement by any team since Northwestern went up 24.0 points between 1999-00.
*TCU is en route to breaking single-season school records for points, first downs, plays, passing yards and total offense.
*TCU is third in the nation in scoring offense (47.2 ppg) and total offense (550.3 ypg).
*Trevone Boykin tops the Big 12 and is fourth nationally in total offense (359.7 ypg).
*Boykin is looking to become one of just three quarterbacks nationally since 2009 to average over 300 yards passing and 50 yards rushing. The other two were Heisman Trophy winners Robert Griffin III and Johnny Manziel. Boykin is at 299.0 yards per game passing and 60.7 rushing.
*TCU is second in the nation with four different 100-yard rushers this season (Trevone Boykin, B.J. Catalon, Aaron Green, Trevorris Johnson).
*TCU leads the nation in turnover margin (plus 1.8 per game) and turnovers gained (27).
*TCU tops the Big 12 in six defensive categories.
*Linebacker Paul Dawson, who leads TCU with 95 tackles, is the lone player in the nation with at least 13 tackles for loss and three interceptions.
*Safeties Sam Carter (11) and Chris Hackett (10) have the most interceptions in the Big 12 over the last three seasons.
