Maponga Selected To Preseason All-Big 12 Team

IRVING, Texas -- TCU defensive end Stansly Maponga has been selected to the 2012 Preseason All-Big 12 Team, chosen by media representatives who cover the Conference.
Maponga has been named to watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award and Rotary Lombardi Award. He was also tabbed by Dave Campbell's Texas Football as the State's Best Defensive Lineman.
A junior from Carrollton, Texas, Maponga was one of four players nationally last season to rank in the top 10 in forced fumbles (five) and top 20 in sacks (nine). He led TCU in tackles for loss (13 1/2), sacks (nine), forced fumbles (five) and fumble recoveries (two).
Maponga topped all linemen and ranked sixth on TCU with 55 total tackles. His five forced fumbles were the most by a Horned Frog since Hughes led the nation with six in 2008.
