Silmon Honored By Mountain West Tuesday

FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Charles Silmon was named Mountain West Co-Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday afternoon.
Silmon, a Waco native, helped the Horned Frogs secure three first-place finishes this past weekend at the Spec Towns Invite in Athens, Ga. The junior began by claiming the individual crown in the men's 100 meters, crossing the finish line in 10.28 seconds. He went on to capture first-place accolades in the men's 200-meter dash with a seasonal-best time of 20.68, which ranks first in the Mountain West and is currently No. 21 in the NCAA. Silmon was also key component of TCU's quartet that captured the men's 4x100 with a time of 39.94.
This is the third weekly honor for Silmon this spring and fifth overall during 2012.
