Chris Del Conte's Online Chat
Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Del Conte chats live Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. CT. Fans are encouraged to submit their questions now.
TCU Moderator: Welcome to today's chat with TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte. We'll begin shortly. |
Mike (Fort Worth): What do you see as possible changes to the tailgating, especially for students, for home football games upon our arrival into the Big XII? |
Chris Del Conte: We're currently working with TCU Student Body President "Rollin' With" Folan to find a tailgating place for our students this fall. It is a priority for us. |
Brenham: Over 100 Season tickets are listed for sale on Stubhub. Are there plans to correct this since many people have not selected their tickets yet? |
Chris Del Conte: There's not much I can do when people decide to put their tickets on Stubhub. It's their right. However, it is my hope that people who buy their tickets will use them to support the Frogs. |
Pat Woods (Arlington,TX): Why are there 2 seats on each row of many sections of the stadium already shown red (not available)? |
Chris Del Conte: Good question. The reason two seats are blocked off in each row is because we're reseating the entire stadium. As we found out when we did our club seats, the actual number of seats did not match the manifest we received. Those extra seats have been marked off as a precautionary measure for those who requested aisle seats. It is our hope that when the seats are installed that the count will be accurate. |
San Angelo: will there be oportunities to buy unused tickets for specific games from fans not using all their seats=== i.e.-thru the Ballena online system? |
Chris Del Conte: Yes. Once the reseating process is finished, the next project is to complete our own TCU Stubhub. Fans can return their unused tickets and we'll resell them to the Frog faithful for that particular game. |
john (fort worth): is tcu looking at new sports to add in the next few years |
Chris Del Conte: Yes. In the Chancellor's last Town Hall meeting, he addressed the need for 60 more spots for prospective female student-athletes. We're in the process of determining which sports will best fit TCU in the Big 12. |
Thomas (Keller): Will there be Frog Seat setbacks available for the bench seats at Amon Carter Stadium? I did not see an option to order when I selected seats. |
Chris Del Conte: We will have a cushion that will be available. |
Ted (Grand Prairie): Did you all ever consider having a spring football game this year somewhere off-campus? |
Chris Del Conte: We talked about a Spring Game off campus, but logistically it just couldn't be worked out. |
Dave (Fort Worth): When are we going to see plans for the DMC renovations? |
Chris Del Conte: As soon as we receive them from the architect, we'll be glad to share them. |
Steve (Fort Worth): What is your ultimate goal for men's and women's basketball in the Big 12? If it is to win a championship, what are you doing to help in that process? |
Chris Del Conte: It is my goal to win championships in all our sports. Our priority is to renovate the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, because having the best facilities possible help you attract the top student-athletes. |
Aaron in San Antonio: I have 2 Club Seats and hope to show my parents at some point during the season. Can we take guests into the Club before, during and/or after games? |
Chris Del Conte: Club access will be limited to those patrons who have seats. We can schedule an individual tour for your parents at a different time, but I'm sorry it would not be possible during an actual game. |
Jason (Dallas): How will football away game tickets work this year? Similar to before? Will we have until August to put in our requests? |
Chris Del Conte: We only receive 4,000 tickets for road games in the Big 12, and they'll be awarded on the points system. |
Sam (Fort Worth): If Daniel-Meyer Coliseum is rebuilt, would the TCU basketball team possibly play their games off-campus for a season? |
Chris Del Conte: That is yet to be determined. |
Wesley (North Richland Hills): Any chance I'll be able to buy a cold Dr Pepper while watching the Frogs in the new stadium? |
Chris Del Conte: There's a good chance you might see 23 flavors in the stadium. |
Mo (Fort Worth): It seems like our worst fears about "double dipping" tix are coming true, as I have seen a lot of them on StubHub, etc. What can be done to stop this? |
Chris Del Conte: We can't control people putting them on Stubhub. However, to date, we've sold 8,000 tickets, or roughly 6 per account, in our first 10 days. In a 45,000 seat stadium, we have a lot of great seats. My hope is that it will be filled by a sea of purple. |
Hank (Fort Worth): Is there a maximum age for kids who want to have their birthday party at Lupton Stadium during a TCU baseball game? |
Chris Del Conte: No. We just filled a request for a 70-year-old man to have his birthday at Lupton Stadium. Not sure if he's signed up for the outfield run, but it'd be great if he did. Come on down! |
TCU360 (Fort Worth): What is your new favorite feature in the Amon G. Carter Stadium? |
Chris Del Conte: My favorite feature is the design of the stadium. There's not a bad seat in the house. |
Randy (Dallas): How long will fans be allowed to tailgate before games at the new stadium? |
Chris Del Conte: It will be the same as last year - 5 hours before the game and 2 hours after. |
Tim (Houston): Who's your pick to win the Final 4? |
Chris Del Conte: To borrow a quote from one of my favorite movies, "There's no gambling at Bushwood Country Club." |
Pops (Redmond, Or): When will we see the frogs t&f teams at Hayward Field for a meet with the Ducks? |
Chris Del Conte: Hi Pops! As long as Mrs. C is cooking dinner, we're coming. |
Leonard, Fort Worth: Are there going to be any type of "open house" events to show off the new stadium and club seat areas before the season starts? |
Chris Del Conte: Yes. After our grand opening, we'll have tours of the entire stadium for all our fans to enjoy. |
Aaron in San Antonio: When will game times be announced for the upcoming football season? Inquiring "East-Siders" (aka sunbathers) want to know. |
Chris Del Conte: Our Big 12 television partners will determine the kickoff times this fall. |
Aaron in San Antonio: Are range/facilities improvements in the works for our 2-time National Champion Rifle Team? Great representatives of our university & deserve better. |
Chris Del Conte: I'm really proud of our two-time national championship rifle team. We are certainly aware of a need for a new range, but our priority is the DMC. |
TCU Moderator: Thank you for joining us for today's chat with Chris Del Conte. We look forward to visiting with you again next month. |
