FORT WORTH - TCU swimmers Laszlo Gyurko and Sabine Rasch have earned recognition from 2010-11 College Swimming & Diving Honors for their efforts during the 2010-11 season.
Both were named Breakout Swimmers by the publication after improving their times from the previous season. Athletes were nominated by their respective sports information offices.
Gyurko set a TCU record in the 100-backstroke in 2011 with a 47.44. His time, which was clocked in the 100-back prelims at the Mountain West Conference Championships, was the fastest in league history before being bettered in the championship finals.
The Szekszard, Hungary, native also moved himself to No. 2 on TCU's all-time 200-back list with a 1:45.61. Gyurko led the conference in the 100-back and 200-back throughout the dual season while racking up eight individual wins.
Rasch put her name at the top of three TCU all-time lists with seasonal-bests of 22.90 in the 50-free, 49.25 in the 100-free and 54.33 in the 100-fly. She broke her own school record in the 100-free five times throughout the season, bettered the 50-free record three times and the 100-fly record twice.
The Luckenwalde, Germany, native won the MWC title in the 100-free with her school-record time of 49.25. Rasch became the second TCU woman to win an individual MWC crown, joining Cheryl Townsend, who won in 2007.
