
Olson Recognized As AFCA Good Works Team Nominee

NORTHBROOK, Ill. -- Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coaches Association have announced TCU offensive tackle Jeff Olson as a nominee for the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team annually honors college football players who stand out for their "good works" in the community. Since 1992, selection to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team has become the gold standard for off-the-field character and leadership for college football players. The honor is widely considered the sport's preeminent community service award.
A senior from McKinney, Texas, Olson is a two-year letterman who started four games at right tackle last season. TCU's offense averaged 48.8 points, 274.3 yards rushing and 525.5 yards in total offense in his starts against Tennessee Tech, Air Force, UNLV and Utah.

*Leadership Team for Ignite, TCU's on-campus ministry he helped start with former Horned Frog players Curtis Clay, Andy Dalton and Marshall Newhouse
*Active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, speaking to kids at churches and FCA huddles
*Huddle leader at FCA Weekend of Champions at Sky Ranch
*Met with kids at FROGS (Friends Reaching Our Goals) lemonade stand where canned food items were accepted and donated to a local food bank
*Spoke and coached at youth football camps
*Involvement with the Boys and Girls Club
