Simonson had a solid sophomore season, competing in 12 games. She closed the season 4-5-3 overall in Reining with two MVP accolades. Simonson tallied the final point for TCU in the season finale, winning 69-67.5 over Oklahoma State's Christy McElreath.
Do you have any unusual talents or abilities?
"Most people think that my passion and ability to ride horses is fairly unusual. Especially the people in my hometown where it is not a common sport."
Where is the coolest place you have visited?
"The Virgin Islands. My dad sailed boats for many years, so instead of staying in hotels we rented a houseboat. We traveled to all the different islands. It was two weeks in heaven."
How did you choose equestrian as your sport?
"I followed my older sister, Whitney Simonson. She has always been a role model and I watched her ride for many years before my parents propped me up on a horse. I kicked and screamed, but once I got comfy in the saddle I never left."
What is your favorite hobby?
"My favorite hobby is snowboarding because I can't ride everyday during winter at home in Colorado."
Who is someone you consider a role model?
"My sister, who is four years older than me, Whitney. Not only is she my sister, but also my best friend. We have a very unique relationship and I am blessed to share such a special friendship."
What is your favorite place to visit or activity to participate in Fort Worth?
"I love the stockyards. Its as simple as that."
What is one thing you have always wanted to do and haven't done yet?
"I would say deep sea fishing. My dad and I have been fly fishing for many years, and I have decided I am ready for the big stuff."
What is your favorite type of music?
"My favorite is country music without a doubt."
If your life was a movie, what genre would it be under?
"It depends on the day, but mostly comedy. Laughing is like a sport to me."
