
Elander Invited To Play For Collegiate National Team

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU sophomore catcher Josh Elander was selected as part of the 22-man roster for the Collegiate National Team. He will join freshman Andrew Mitchell who was invited last week. It marks the first time in school history the Horned Frogs will have two athletes on the squad.
Elander enjoyed a break-out season as a sophomore. En route to earning second-team All-Mountain West Conference honors, Elander hit .333 in 48 games this season. He collected 11 doubles, two triples and five home runs. Elander drove in 38 runs and tallied nine stolen bases.
Jake Arrieta was the first Horned Frog to earn a spot on the National Team roster, doing so in 2006, the same year Jim Schlossnagle served as an assistant coach. In 2010 Kyle Winkler pitched for Team USA and Danny Wheat was tabbed the head athletic trainer.
The USA Collegiate National Team's season gets underway June 22 in Keene, N.H. The team will remain in the New England area through June 29 before departing for North Carolina where they will prepare to host Japan in the 38th USA vs. Japan All-Star Series. The series will conclude on July 8 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.
