
TCU's Callens Named to Academic All-District First Team

FORT WORTH - Recent TCU graduate and diver Kyle Callens has been named to the District 6 Capital One Academic All-District at-large team, it was announced Thursday.
Callens is a first-team selection and now has the opportunity to be named an Academic All-American. Voting for Academic All-Americans begins May 24. Callens boasted a cumulative 3.80 grade point average in mechanical engineering while earning his degree.
The Deer Park, Texas, native is the TCU record holder on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard. He holds all-time best marks of 360.98 on the 1-meter board and 380.15 on the 3-meter board. Both of those totals were tallied during his senior season.
Callens was an All-Mountain West performer in each of his four years with the Horned Frogs, garnering the distinction on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. He added an All-MWC honor on the platform dive this past season.
Twice named the Mountain West's Diver of the Week in 2010-11, Callens qualified for the NCAA Zone "D" Diving Championships for the second-straight season in 2011.
