
Coats Named MWC Co-Player of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU baseball junior outfielder Jason Coats was honored as the MWC Co-Player of the Week for his performance in four games last week. This is the second honor for Coats in his career and the sixth for the Horned Frogs this season.
Coats batted .562 (9-for-16) while helping TCU to a 3-1 road record last week, including a three-game sweep of San Diego State.
The Plano, Texas, native finished with six RBI, six runs scored, four doubles, three walks and two stolen bases on the week. He recorded at least two hits and one RBI in each of the four games, beginning with a 2-for-4, one-RBI performance against No. 8 Oklahoma.
In the Horned Frogs' weekend series at San Diego State, Coats went 7-for-12 (.583) at the plate, scoring two runs and hitting at least one double in each of the three contests.
For the week, Coats posted on-base and slugging percentages of .667 and .812, respectively, while raising his batting average to a season-high .310. Defensively, he recorded five putouts without an error from his position in left field.
Kyle Winkler has been honored by the conference on three occasions. He was selected on Feb. 21 for his performance against Kansas, on March 8 for his outing against Texas Tech and April 4 for his 15-strike effort against Air Force. Andrew Mitchell was also honored this season on Feb. 28. Steven Maxwell was tabbed Pitcher of the Week on April 11.
