LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Brooke Beeler and Melissa Loh carded 72s as TCU remained in second place after Friday's second round of the Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championships.
The 32nd-ranked Horned Frogs shot a 293 and are at 581 through 36 holes, just three shots behind No. 49 UNLV.
Beginning the final round within striking distance of an MWC Championship is nothing new for TCU. In winning their last MWC title in 2007, the Horned Frogs rallied from a six-stroke deficit entering final-round play.
Beeler had a team-best four birdies on the day, including three in a five-hole stretch from No. 11 to No. 15. She is eighth individually.
Loh and fellow TCU senior Prisela Campbell are tied for sixth at even-par 144, only three strokes off the pace set by UNLV's Ellis Keenan and Therese Koelbaek and BYU's Maggie Yuan.
Loh shot par on 14 holes. Campbell recorded a 74 after her opening-round 70.
TCU's Sanna Nuutinen, named Thursday as the MWC Freshman of the Year, recorded a pair of birdies en route to a 75.
Saturday's final round tee times begin at 10:30 a.m. CDT. Live scoring is available at www.Golfstat.com.
