SAN DIEGO -- TCU shot a 322 and is in 17th place after Sunday's opening round of the inaugural Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn.
Rated as the nation's fourth-toughest event for the 2011 spring season, The Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn includes only top-50 ranked teams.
Sanna Nuutinen, the lone freshman in TCU's lineup, led the No. 33 Horned Frogs with a 77 and is tied for 43rd individually.
TCU junior Brooke Beeler birdied two of her opening three holes en route to a team-best three birdies on the day. She finished with a 78.
No. 2 UCLA leads the field with a 5-over-par 293. No. 25 UC Davis is one shot back at 294.
Arizona State's Giulia Molinaro sits atop the leader board after an opening-round 69, one stroke ahead of Purdue's Laura Gonzalez. Only five of the 96 individuals shot below par.
