FORT WORTH - TCU seniors Greg Hill and Jessica Young have been honored as Athletes of the Week, the TCU Athletics Department announced Tuesday.
Hill scored in double figures in both of TCU's games last week and has put together a string of three-straight games in double figures scoring for the first time in his Horned Frog career.
Against UNLV, the Gary, Ind., native poured in a season-high 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including three buckets from long range. In last Saturday's matchup with Wyoming, Hill added another 12 points, while going 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Hailing from Columbia, S.C., Young set a new MWC record in the women's 60-meter dash at the Tyson Invitational last Friday in Fayetteville, Ark. She broke her school record in the event, clocking a NCAA automatic and personal-best time of 7.18 seconds in the women's 60-meter semifinals.
That mark ties the fastest time in the nation this season and is 11th in the world. Young would later take second in the finals by recording a time of 7.22 seconds. In the women's 4x400 event, the Horned Frogs' quartet of Young, Quinterra Charles, Kristal Juarez and Teneshia Peart clocked a time of 3:35.44 to claim third-place honors.
