
Equestrian Hosts West Texas A&M And Oklahoma State

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU will open its home schedule this weekend with contests against West Texas A&M and Oklahoma State at October Hill Farms.
Saturday's match-up against the Buffaloes is set for Noon, while Sunday's showdown with the Cowgirls will begin at approximately 1 p.m.
"I'm very excited to be hosting our first two home meets this season," said Hunt Seat head coach Logan Fiorentino. "I anticipate this weekend being a great opportunity to show the TCU fans just how hard this team has been working since the start of the season. This should be a great weekend of competition and we are up for the challenge."
"It is great to finally be home after a busy schedule on the road," said interim Western head coach Kindel Huffman. "I anticipate a very successful weekend against West Texas A&M and Oklahoma State and look forward to having our fans come out and support TCU."

Scouting West Texas A&M
West Texas A&M comes into this weekend with an 0-1 overall record after opening the year falling to New Mexico State.
Against the Aggies, the Lady Buffs fell 16-2, loosing several close matches. Senior Amy Mitchem led the way for West Texas A&M in Hunt Seat, scoring a point in Equitation over Fences, while sophomore Kelsey Kenson captured a point on the Western side in Reining.
West Texas A&M is led by Amanda Ricketson is coming off a season in which junior Hannah Welte played sixth overall in Horsemanship at the IHSA National Championships.
Scouting Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State comes into this weekend with a 2-0 overall record and No. 5 national ranking. On the season, the Cowgirls have defeated nationally ranked No. 6 Baylor and No. 9 SMU.
In its last outing, Oklahoma State upended Baylor, 13-10. OSU downed the Bears in Western, 9-3, while the Hunt Seat squad fell to Baylor, 7-4.
Marissa Dalton should have a major impact on the Western side this season for the Cowgirls after being named the Most Valuable Performer in the Horsemanship at the 2011 Varsity Equestrian National Championships. On the Hunt Seat side, senior Jordan White, junior Ellie Sparks and sophomore Allison Dooman all earned head-to-head victories against Baylor to remain undefeated on the year.
Scouting TCU
TCU comes into this weekend looking for its first win on the young season. The Horned Frogs are currently 0-6 on the year, but are receiving votes in the national rankings.
The Purple and White have faced one of the toughest schedules in the country during the early portion of their schedule as the Frogs have now battled No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 7 Kansas State and No. 9 SMU.
In its last outing, TCU captured two MVP honors last Friday, but No. 2 Texas A&M escaped with a 12-7 victory at the Brazos County Expo Complex.
The Horned Frogs scored a 3-2 decision over the Aggies in Equitation on the Flat. Overall, the Purple and White battled Texas A&M to a 5-5 draw in Hunt Seat, but the Aggies won the event with an overall raw score of 718-704. On the day, both Callie Selchau and Taylor Prince recorded MVP accolades in Equitation on the Flat and Horsemanship, respectively.
The Frogs have had several individuals post impressive early season victories during the 2011-12 campaign.
On the Western side, Lexie Estrada, who captured her second MVP honor of her career in Horsemanship against Georgia, hasn't lost in four-straight contests and has a season record of 3-1-1. In Reining, Kolby Simonson is currently 4-1-0 on the season after falling this past weekend. She has also garnered one MVP honor during the early portion of the schedule.
Several student-athletes have shined on the Hunt Seat side as the Frogs head into this Saturday's contest against West Texas A&M. Haley Jacobi has claimed five victories overall in both Hunt Seat disciples, while returning All-America honoree Callie Selchau has captured three MVP honors, which includes an 85-76 decision over Texas A&M's Lia Chafee this past Friday. Finally, freshman Kaitlin Perry has garnered four wins on the season.
Frogs In National Rankings
The TCU women's equestrian program received word last week that it had been ranked No. 9 in the first Women's Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches Poll of the 2011-12 season. The Frogs are currently receiving votes in this week's poll.
Overall, the Horned Frogs totaled seven points. Auburn is still ranked No. 1 with 58 points, while both Texas A&M and Georgia sit just behind at No. 2 and No. 3 with 52 and 42 points, respectively.
The coaches poll is released bi-monthly with the next announcement scheduled for Nov. 9.
The All-Time Series Breakdown
TCU and West Texas A&M will battle for the first time in program history Saturday. The Horned Frogs and Cowgirls are set to compete for the eighth time in program history. Oklahoma State currently leads the all-time series, 4-3, but TCU dropped the Cowgirls last spring, 12-8, in its regular-season finale.
