DALLAS -- The Football Writers Association of America has announced TCU as its Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week.
The 19th-ranked Horned Frogs received the honor after posting a 36-35 victory at Boise State, snapping the following streaks for the Broncos: regular-season home wins (65), conference home victories (47) and overall home wins (35). All three streaks were tops in the nation.
TCU improved to 4-1 in its last five games against top-five ranked teams. Three of those victories have come in the last two seasons, all away from home.
TCU head coach Gary Patterson improved to 12-7 against ranked teams.
It's the fourth straight year and fifth time in seven seasons that TCU has been named a Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week. The Horned Frogs also received the honor after last season's win at Utah, 2008 and 2009 victories over BYU and a 2005 win at Oklahoma.
Trailing 35-28 with 2:26 to play, TCU forced a turnover. Walter Camp National Player of the Week Casey Pachall then led a 7-play, 73-yard drive in 1:21, capped by a 25-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Carter to pull the Horned Frogs within 35-34 with 1:05 remaining. Pachall then hit Josh Boyce on a 2-point pass for the go-ahead points.
TCU extended its Mountain West record by winning its 22nd-consecutive league game. The Horned Frogs also set an MW mark with their 12th-straight league road victory.
