FORT WORTH--TCU men's golf head coach Bill Montigel has announced that internationally ranked French amateur Paul Barjon will join the Horned Frogs for the 2012-2013 season.
Barjon is rated as the 17th-best French amateur and is 540th overall in the R&A World Amateur Rankings.
"We are excited to add Paul to our program starting next season," Montigel said. "He is a well-rounded player who is internationally ranked and will bring additional depth to our team.
"The dynamics of Paul's game that stood out to me while recruiting him were the competitive schedule he played in addition to his ability to consistently post great scores," Montigel said.
Barjon has posted several career victories in his home nation to help rise in the international amateur rankings. Among his victories are wins at the 2011 French Club Team Championship, the 2010 Grand Prix of Baron and the 2009 New Caledonia Amateur Championship.
In addition to his experience gained on the French amateur scene, Barjon also has competed internationally. He placed fourth at the 2010 Doral Junior Championship in the United States and was a quarterfinalist at the Internationals of Italy in 2011. This past summer he finished 27th at the highly competitive European Amateur Championship held in Sweden. Barjon has spentadditional time with both the French Amateur Team and the French Junior Team.
Barjon will become the second French golfer to sign with the Horned Frogs in as many years, joining freshman Julien Brun, who currently is No. 22 in the R&A World Amateur Rankings.
