Kemboi Named To South Central All-Region Team

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU junior Agnes Kemboi was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's 2011 South Central All-Region team Monday.
The Eldoret, Kenya native finished sixth overall among individuals at the South Central Regional meet Saturday, crossing the finish line with a 6K clocking of 20:43.7. The time was the second-fastest time of the season for Kemboi, behind her 20:23 performance at the Chile Pepper Festival on Oct. 15.
Kemboi will represent TCU at the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships, marking the seventh time in the last nine years that the Frogs have sent at least one individual to the national meet.
The 2011 fall season has been a banner year for Kemboi after claiming All-Mountain West first-team honors following her third place performance at the conference championships. The junior was a three-time MW Athlete of the Week honoree this fall and enjoyed top-6 finishes in all of her races.
Kemboi is now preparing for the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships, set for Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind. Indiana State will host the national meet at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.
