TCU Tied For Seventh At Windy City Collegiate Classic

GOLF, Ill. -- Strong second rounds by Brooke Beeler and Sanna Nuutinen helped No. 28 TCU into a tie for seventh after Monday's opening 36 holes of the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
The Horned Frogs' second-round 297 was six strokes better than a 303 shot in the morning's opening 18 holes. The 297 tied for the fifth best second-round score.
With a 600, TCU is 11 strokes behind leader and fourth-ranked Oklahoma State's 589.
In second-round play, Nuutinen had a pair of birdies to go 1 under through the front nine before finishing with a 1 over 73. The sophomore from Helsinki, Finland, is tied for 11th individually at 147.
Nuutinen will begin Tuesday's final round just five strokes behind leader Kristina Merkle of Tulsa.
Beeler, a Butler, Ill., native playing in her home state, had four birdies in a six-hole stretch on the back nine to finish with a second round even-par 72. She is tied for 20th with a 149.
TCU senior Rachel Raastad improved her score by six strokes in the afternoon as she posted a second-round 74.
Horned Frog freshmen Alexandra Bonetti and April McCoy both carded opening-round 76s. McCoy, from Carrollton, Texas, recorded four birdies over 10 holes.
