Kemboi Garners Third Mountain West Honor of 2011

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU junior Agnes Kemboi has been named the Mountain West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Kemboi, hailing from Eldoret, Kenya, placed fifth overall at the Chile Pepper Festival last weekend in Fayetteville, Ark., finishing the 6K course with a personal-best time of 20:23.3. Kemboi's fifth-place finish is the best by a TCU female runner since Mary Kinyanjui claimed fourth-place honors at the event in 2004. Kemboi's mark is the best time in the MW this fall.
The conference honor is the third of the season and in Kemboi's career. She also earned the league's recognition after her runner-up performances at the North Texas Metroplex Opener and Cowboy Jamboree.
TCU will now look to postseason play and begin preparations for the Mountain West Conference Championships, Oct. 29, in Fort Collins, Colo.
