ABOUT THE GAME
*No. 6 TCU opens its 80th season at Amon G. Carter Stadium when it hosts Tennessee Tech.
*It's an historic home campaign for the Horned Frogs as 2010 marks the final season of the existing Amon G. Carter Stadium. A $105 million renovation will begin immediately after the Nov. 13 home finale with San Diego State.
*The Golden Eagles represent just the fifth FCS opponent (Northwestern State, 2001; UC Davis, 2006; Stephen F. Austin, 2008; Texas State, 2009) that TCU has faced in Gary Patterson's 10 seasons as head coach.
*The Frogs are 27-3 in their last 30 games.
*Seven of TCU's last eight victories have been by at least 27 points.
HAIL TO THE ALMA MATER
*TCU head coach Gary Patterson received a master's degree in educational administration from Tennessee Tech in 1984.
*Patterson served two seasons (1983-84) as the linebackers coach at Tennessee Tech.
*TCU defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Dick Bumpas was the Golden Eages' defensive coordinator and assistant head coach during those two years Patterson was at Tennessee Tech.
*Tennessee Tech was the second of five schools (Kansas State, Tennessee Tech, Utah State, Navy and TCU) that Patterson and Bumpas would work at together.
DEFENDING THEIR HOME
*TCU has a 14-game home winning streak.
*Since 1999, TCU is 56-6 (.903) in its last 62 home games at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
*In their last four home dates, the Frogs allowed just five touchdowns and outscored their opponents 191-44.
*TCU's 37-4 home record (.902) since 2003 ranks fifth nationally.
HOME OPENERS
*TCU has won eight straight home openers under head coach Gary Patterson. In five of those victories, the Frogs allowed 13 points or less.
*The Frogs are 8-1 in home openers under Patterson.
HOME SWEET METROPLEX
*TCU will play seven of its opening eight games in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
*The Frogs have five home dates in that stretch in addition to last week's neutral-site contest with Oregon State at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington and a Sept. 24 road game at SMU in Dallas.
NATIONAL HONORS
*TCU has seven preseason All-Americans (offensive tackle Marcus Cannon, linebacker Tank Carder, quarterback Andy Dalton, placekicker Ross Evans, safety Tejay Johnson, return specialist Jeremy Kerley and center Jake Kirkpatrick).
*The Frogs have 10 players on watch lists for national awards (Cannon, Carder, Dalton, defensive end Wayne Daniels, Evans, Johnson, Kerley, Kirkpatrick and tailbacks Matthew Tucker and Ed Wesley).
*Gary Patterson, who received nine National Coach of the Year honors in 2009, is Playboy's preseason Coach of the Year.
