FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Athletic Department has named women's cross country runner Agnes Kemboi and football's Tejay Johnson as its Athletes of the Week for Sept. 28.
For Kemboi, a sophomore, it is the second time she has earned the honor during the fall. The Eldoret, Kenya, native was the third runner to cross the line over the weekend at the Cowboy Jamboree.
She clocked a 6,000-meter time of 21:30.75, which is the top time in the Mountain West Conference for this year. Her effort helped lead the Horned Frogs to a sixth-place finish overall.
On the men's side, senior Tejay Johnson earned the distinction after having recorded two tackles and racked up three pass breakups in the 41-24 win over SMU.
Johnson grabbed his first interception of the season when he picked off SMU's Kyle Padron with 7:14 remaining in the game. The Garland, Texas, native returned the interception 19 yards for TCU's final touchdown and put the game out of reach for the Mustangs.
