NOTES ON A SCORECARD
What a day to be a Horned Frog on Saturday! Our football team won on national television in front of a packed house. The purple-clad 47,393 in attendance represented the second-largest crowd in the 80-year history of Amon G. Carter Stadium. Earlier in the day, we completed an undefeated weekend run in volleyball to win the Nike Invitational at the Rec Center.
FILLING THE CARTER
Dating back to last season, we've had two sellouts in our last four home football games. During that time, our average attendance is 44,139 - 99.5 percent of capacity. Our record-breaking number for season tickets sold is now 19,138. When including the student allotment, we're at 25,292. Congratulations to the Horned Frog nation, Fort Worth and the entire Metroplex for the incredible support of the fourth-ranked team in the country.
ARRIVE EARLY
As you've seen, we're now scanning tickets as you enter our home football games. With any new system, there will be kinks at the outset. We are working through them and sincerely apologize for the delays you've encountered. We appreciate the feedback provided us and will do everything possible to have an even-smoother operation at our next home game. Please arrive early to avoid any last-minute rushes or delays at the gates. We believe the Baylor game is just a sign of things to come at Amon G. Carter Stadium. We're expecting more sellouts this year.
SEE YOU IN DALLAS
SMU has called for a Red Out on Friday. We hope many of you will wear purple and travel with us to Dallas as the Frogs face the Mustangs. We had a great turnout in our last trip there in 2008. The game will be on ESPN. This is just one of many opportunities to see the Frogs in the Metroplex this fall. Seven of our first eight games are in DFW.
MORE ON ATTENDANCE
Our volleyball team, which just had a six-match winning streak, is ranked 25th nationally in attendance with over 1,300 fans per home date. Our soccer team is averaging over 1,500 a game, more than last year's total which ranked 10th in the country. We host Texas State Sunday at 1 p.m. at Jane Justin Field at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. In case you missed it from Friday, we had an impressive 3-0 win at No. 17 Memphis.
FROGS FOR THE CURE
Thanks to the leadership of Ann Louden, plans are well underway for our annual Frogs for the Cure game on Oct. 16 versus BYU. Ann has secured recording artist Tim Halperin to produce a song with proceeds from iTunes sales benefiting the Komen Foundation.
HOOPS SEASON AROUND THE CORNER
Basketball season tickets for our men's and women's teams are available through our Web site (www.GoFrogs.com) and by calling or dropping by our ticket office in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Head Coach Jim Christian has signed a great recruiting class for our men's team. You'll enjoying watching the Frogs on the court this season. Our women's program has been ranked in the preseason Top 25 and returns a strong nucleus from last year's NCAA Tournament team, including Mountain West Conference Player of the Year Helena Sverrisdottir. If you swing by the DMC, you'll notice some recent improvements to the facility that include new seats in the lower bowl.
NEW CONTRACT
We were very excited this week to announce a new contract for baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle. Everything he does is first class and it goes beyond the success you see on the diamond. It was an unbelievable run to Omaha, and Jim has truly put TCU in the discussion of the elite programs in the country. He's won a conference championship every year he's been in our dugout. Jim is just one example of a tremendous coaching staff we're honored to serve at TCU. Last year, we had five coaches named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year with two being selected National Coach of the Year.
COMING SOON
In the next few weeks, we'll be unveiling some new features to our Web site that we believe truly tells our story. Stay tuned.
TOWN HALL MEETINGS
As a reminder, our Town Hall meetings to discuss seat and parking reallocation when Amon G. Carter Stadium is renovated will take place Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Brown-Lupton University Union third-floor ballroom. Please send an e-mail to stadium@tcu.edu KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback.
