
TCU Hosts SMU Tuesday Night In Nationally Televised Match

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team will put their six-match winning streak on the line Tuesday night when they host SMU in a nationally televised match. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. The match will air live on The Mtn. (DIRECTV 616).
TCU NOTABLES
TCU is in the midst of a six-match winning streak after sweeping two straight tournaments.
The Frogs claimed the Rutgers Invitational tournament last week and walked away winners of the TCU Nike Invitational this past weekend.
Kristen Hester had a solid tournament in earning MVP honors.
Meghan Horio and Christy Hudson also earned all-tournament honors.
The Frogs defense continues to be top notch as they lead the league in digs with 17.67 per set. They hold almost a three-dig per match lead over Utah, who is averaging 14.62 digs per set.
TCU is averaging 1,199 fans per match this season, a mark that ranks 25th nationally.
SMU NOTABLES
The Mustangs come into the match with a 7-3 record. They have not played since a 3-0 loss to Wichita State last Tuesday.
SMU opened the season with five straight wins, including victories over Baylor, Texas Tech and Texas State.
Dana Powell is the leading hitter with an average of 3.13 kills per set. She also averages 3.13 digs per set and 0.61 blocks per set.
Sidney Stewart patrols the back row, averaging 5.05 digs per set.
As a team, the Mustangs are strong blockers, averaging 2.50 blocks per set, led by Courtney Manning's 1.24 per set.
The Mustangs are hitting .205 and averaging 12.89 kills per set.
THE SERIES
SMU owns a 10-3 series lead, including a 3-2 mark in Fort Worth.
SMU has won three straight matches, including a 3-2 decision in Dallas a year ago.
The Frogs last win in the series came on Sept. 22, 2000. TCU claimed a 3-1 victory in Fort Worth.
Prior to last season's meeting, the Frogs and the Mustangs hadn't played since the 2001 campaign.
