
Volleyball Opens Home Schedule Friday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team (2-1) will kick off the home portion of the 2010 schedule Friday as they host the TCU Molten Invitational. The Horned Frogs will welcome No. 21 LSU, Central Arkansas and Alcorn State to the University Rec Center. TCU's first match is set for 1 p.m. on Friday against Alcorn State.
PACK THE GYM
The TCU Marketing Department is running a special promotion for TCU's Friday night match against No. 21 LSU. The Frogs want to "Pack The Gym" for the match. The first 250 fans that come to the match will receive a free rally towel.

THE TOURNAMENT FIELD
TCU NOTABLES (2-1, 0-0 MWC)
The Frogs went 2-1 in the Burnt Orange Classic with sweeps of Houston and McNeese State.
Christy Hudson and Megan Munce earned All-Tournament honors.
Hudson led the team in kills all three matches.
Munce tallied seven aces in the three matches and leads the league.
All five of the newcomers saw action over the weekend.
ALCORN STATE NOTABLES (0-0, 0-0 SWAC)
Alcorn State is kicking off its season this weekend.
The Lady Braves were picked to finish fifth in the SWAC's eastern division.
Junior Donna Kelly ranked fifth in the SWAC last year with an average of 3.68 digs per set.
LSU NOTABLES (3-0, 0-0 SEC)
The Tigers are ranked No. 21 in the latest AVCA poll after entering the season ranked No. 23.
LSU went 3-0 at Texas A&M last weekend with wins over the Aggies, Pacific and Siena.
Angela Bensend is the top hitter, averaging 4.11 kills per set, while Lauren Waclawczyk is averaging 4.00 digs per set.
CENTRAL ARKANSAS NOTABLES (3-2, 0-0 Southland)
The Sugar Bears went 3-1 in their opening tournament of the season at Wyoming. The only loss was to the Cowgirls.
UCA lost a 3-1 decision at Oklahoma on Wednesday night.
Jessica Hays paces the team offensively with an average of 4.29 kills per set, while Christin Curl is tallying four digs per set.
PACKING THE STANDS
A record number of fans passed through the doors at the Rec Center to see the Frogs in action.
13,187 fans came out to the 13 home matches in 2009, an average of 1,014 per match.
Seven of the top 10 attendance marks came from last season, including the top four attended games.
The Frogs school-record crowd was 1,875 against nationally-ranked Colorado State on Oct. 22.
TCU ranked 44th in the country in attendance this season.
SERVING IT UP
TCU has traditionally been a strong serving team.
That appears to once again be the case as the Frogs are leading the league in service aces after the first weekend of play, averaging 1.78 per set.
Megan Munce drilled seven aces over the weekend and paces the league with an average of 0.78 per set.
She moved into ninth on the career charts as she has 97 aces in the 2+ seasons at TCU.
SENIOR LEADERSHIP
Christy Hudson has embraced her role as the leader of the team in 2010.
She led the Frogs in kills in all three matches, tallying nine each in the first two matches and 12 in the win over McNeese State.
Hudson ranks second in the league with a .400 attack percentage, committing just four attack errors on 65 swings.
Hudson is also the team's leading blocker with five on the season.
She has the lone solo block and is averaging 0.56 blocks per set.
A THREAT ANYWHERE
Megan Munce has proved to be an all around threat on the volleyball court.
As the reigning MWC Setter of the Year, Munce is averaging 9.00 assists per set.
In addition, she has shown a penchant for taking charge with her left arm, pounding out 12 kills, an average of 1.33 per set.
Her prowess behind the service line is impressive as she has led the league in service aces dating all the way back to the beginning of the 2009 campaign.
Defensively, the junior provides a spark in the back row as she ranks in a tie for third with 21 digs, an average of 2.33 per set.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
The Frogs have made the University Rec Center a tough place for their opponents over the last four seasons.
TCU has tallied 46 home wins since 2006, an average of 11.5 per season.
The school record for home wins is 14 set during the 2008 season.
The Frogs are riding a nine-match home winning streak dating back to a Sept. 1 loss to Baylor.
The Frogs have an all-time record of 75-29 (.721) at the Rec Center since it was remodeled prior to the start of the 2003 season.
They have notched 10 or more home wins in each season except for one.
